Chef Arnaud Donckele, who stands at the head of the gourmet restaurant at the luxurious Saint-Tropez hotel La Résidence de la Pinède, has recently been awarded the title of the best chef of the year 2013. Arnaud Donckele won this year’s edition of a long and difficult competition presented by the best French chefs and became the 27th Chef of the Year.
Constant progress confirmed by numerous prizes
Originally from Rouen in Normandy, Arnaud Donckele developed his cooking techniques and his professional mastery at the side of some of the greatest names in French cuisine: Michel Guérard and Alain Ducasse. Then he also worked in the restaurant ‘Lasserre’ in Paris assisting Jean-Louis Nomicos, the great creator of ‘Macaroni aux truffes noires et foie gras’ and many other famous dishes. In the year 2005, Arnaud Donckele decided to enrich the cuisine of La Résidence de la Pinède with his presence and his taste, and was awarded 4 toques by Gault et Millau, an influential restaurant & wine hotel guide, in the year 2008.
The year 2010 brings another success: at the age of 32, Arnaud Donckele won two Michelin stars for his restaurant at the luxurious venue of La Résidence de la Pinède in Saint-Tropez. It should not be forgotten that the Michelin Guide is an annually edited reference guide for gastronomy, one of the oldest and the most famous ones in the world, its rating being recognized and respected by the whole industry.
Two years after the distinction by Michelin Guide, Arnaud Donckele was awarded another prestigious title of ‘Young Chef of the Future’ issued by the International Culinary Academy, while, approximately at the same time, on 22 May 2012 the hotel La Résidence de la Pinède obtained the official label of 5 stars for the quality of its offer and services. In the year 2013, at the age of 35, chef Donckele received 3 Michelin stars for the restaurant ‘La Vague d’or’ in the luxurious venue La Résidence de la Pinède located on the Côte d’Azur.
